Giving Back: Donating Toys to Monash Children’s Hospital & Very Special Kids

At Make Me Iconic, we believe that giving back is just as important as giving joy. That’s why each year, especially during the Christmas season, we make it a priority to donate our wooden toys to organisations that support children and families doing it tough.

This past holiday season, we were proud to support two incredible charities close to our hearts, Monash Children’s Hospital and Very Special Kids. Rather than running our usual donation drop-off to a single location, we decided to spread the love further, delivering carloads of our signature wooden toys to both facilities.

Supporting Children Through the Power of Play

Our donations included a mix of our bestselling wooden toy sets like pretend play kits, tea sets, doctor kits and more all designed to encourage open-ended, screen-free play and bring a little cheer to children who need it most.

We know that play is more than just fun it’s a way for children to process emotions, feel comforted, and simply enjoy being a kid, even in the most difficult of times. That’s why we carefully selected toys that were not only engaging and age-appropriate, but also easy to clean, disinfect, and keep in hospital environments.

We Donated As Much As We Could Carry

We quite literally filled our car to the brim with toys and boxes stacked in the boot, on seats, and in every spare bit of space we could find. We dropped off as much as we possibly could, hoping each toy would find its way into the hands of a child who needed a little comfort or joy during the holiday season.

Gratitude to the Heroes Behind the Scenes

Visiting these hospitals and meeting the incredible people who work tirelessly to care for these children was a true honour. The dedication, warmth, and energy of the staff and volunteers at Monash Children’s Hospital and Very Special Kids left us humbled and inspired. You are the real heroes, and we are deeply grateful for the endless hours you give to brighten the lives of others.

Why We Donate

As a small Melbourne business, we know we’re lucky to be part of such a supportive community and giving back is our way of paying it forward. We don’t just design and sell beautiful toys we use them to make a difference. In 2018, for example, we donated 3% of our profits in toys to several children’s charities. It’s something we’re proud of and committed to continuing.
