About Make Me Iconic
IT STARTED WITH AN IDEA…..
Well two actually.
We returned home to Melbourne after an extended 10 year stay in London. We immediately fell in love with Melbourne again. How could you not? Melbourne has so much to offer that is unique, stylish and contemporary and we wanted something in our home that brought those elements to life. Sadly, there was nothing to be found when returned home. We had great souvenirs from London, but nothing to represent Melbourne, the city we grew up in and once again call our home.
We knew we weren’t the only ones that love Melbourne and guessed that we weren’t the only ones that wanted to take a part of it home.
SO, THE SEED WAS SEWN
We would find the best young, local designers to help us represent some of the unsung icons of the city. We knew what the icons were but didn’t know much about their history. So, we decided to educate ourselves and our customers about the history of each icon and give them facts about what makes these icons unique.
So, with unsung icons and urban education in mind Make Me Iconic was born, launching our first range of cushions and artworks in December 2009.
Designed for locals and tourists alike Make Me Iconic’ range of products capture the essence of the city and give it the style and sophistication it deserves. Great for gifts, homesick expats or just a treat for yourself.

We take on an entirely new tack on designer homewares, toys and premium Australian Souvenirs & Gifts. We produce high quality and iconic gifts that people enjoy, connect with and want to talk about.
Our goal is to bring the unsung icons of Australia and its Cities to life and into people's homes. At the same time our products aim to enlighten you by providing facts about the icons of the city and what makes them so special and iconic.
CELEBRATING 15 YEARS
It’s hard to believe Make Me Iconic has been around for over 15 years. What started as a small idea, run from the corner of my bedroom with a tiny investment and has grown into something I could’ve only imagined.
In the beginning, we focused on locally made tea towels, cushions, and artwork. Over time, we slowly evolved into creating wooden toys, which is something I’m incredibly passionate about.
We started with just a few Melbourne icons, and now we’ve expanded to a full Australian collection. I still have a soft spot for our original designs like the Nylex sign and Skipping Girl, they remain some of my all-time favourites.
One of the best parts of this journey is spotting our pieces in people’s homes. I still get a thrill when I walk into someone’s home and see a Nylex print on the wall, or a wooden toy tram being played with on the floor. That connection means everything to me.
I’m so grateful to everyone who’s supported us, our amazing Customers, and Stores. Make Me Iconic wouldn’t be here without you.
